Permitting in Montgomery County (and gated-community contractor rules)

Permits go through the Montgomery County Permits Office for any work involving plumbing rough-in, electrical service changes, or structural modifications. Properties inside Montgomery city limits (smaller area than people sometimes assume — mostly the historic downtown core) get permits through the City of Montgomery building department.
