Why I Started Fixup Experts
Before founding Fixup Experts, I worked on enough remodels — both as a homeowner and on the trade side — to see exactly what most general contractors get wrong. The pattern was always the same: aggressive sales pitch up front, low-ball estimate to win the job, then a steady stream of "discoveries" and "change orders" that doubled the final invoice. The crew doing the actual work would be subcontracted out, often to whoever was cheapest that week, and the project manager you met during the sale was nowhere to be found by week two.
I built this company to be the opposite of all that. The most important decision was specialization: instead of offering everything (and being mediocre at most of it), we focus on four service categories where we deliver consistent, high-quality work — wood rot repair, custom carpentry & built-ins, cedar fence work, and pergolas. These all share something fundamental: they're carpentry, they're year-round demand in The Woodlands climate, and they're work I can personally quality-check because I know wood.
