About this service

Built to last in Houston's climate.

Almost every home in The Woodlands and Spring has a wooden privacy fence — usually 6 feet tall, cedar or pine pickets, often with HOA-mandated style. They're invisible until they fail, and Houston climate makes them fail predictably: posts rot at ground level, pickets warp from sun and rain, hardware rusts and bleeds stains down the wood, and storms knock down sections.

This service covers everything from small sectional repairs (one or two damaged panels after a storm) to full perimeter fence replacement. We use treated yellow pine posts (rated for ground contact), cedar pickets and rails, cedar rot board at the bottom to keep moisture off the pickets, and stainless or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners that won't rust and stain your fence.

We tear out the old fence and haul it away as part of the project. We dig fresh post holes and set new posts in concrete (not the old rotted holes). We coordinate with your HOA's style requirements — most Woodlands villages have specific picket styles, height, and cap requirements that we know from prior projects.

What's included

Every cedar fence project includes

Included in your quote

Standard scope

  • Site assessment — measuring, identifying damage extent, checking HOA requirements, planning gate locations
  • Tear-out and haul-away of the old fence (sections being replaced)
  • Concrete-set posts — pressure-treated yellow pine posts, ground-contact rated, set in concrete (60lb bag per post minimum)
  • Cedar pickets — Eastern or Western Red Cedar, dog-ear or flat-top per HOA spec
  • Cedar rails — top and bottom horizontal rails, properly attached to posts
  • Rot board — bottom cedar board protecting pickets from ground moisture (extends fence life by years)
  • Hardware — stainless or hot-dipped galvanized nails/screws, won't rust or bleed stains
  • Gate rebuild or replacement if applicable, with reinforced posts and proper hardware
  • Cleanup — debris haul-away, yard cleared, post hole tailings removed
Available as add-on (extra cost)

Beyond the basics

  • Stain or seal application after install (extends life, controls color)
  • Decorative cap/trim/lattice top (adds curb appeal and HOA-compliant style)
  • Board-on-board construction (no see-through gaps as wood shrinks)
  • Steel fence post sleeves (for ultimate post longevity)
  • Custom gate hardware (self-closing, key-locking, etc.)
  • Old concrete footing removal (if you want to relocate posts)
  • Permit pulling if your area requires (most Woodlands fence projects don't, we'll know)

All add-ons priced transparently in your written estimate before any work begins.

Project timeline

Day-by-day, what happens

Most fence projects finish in 1–4 days depending on length and HOA approval timing.

Tear-out

Remove old fence sections. Pull old posts and concrete footings. Stage debris for haul-away. Mark new post locations precisely.

Dig new post holes (24" deep minimum, deeper for end/gate posts). Set treated yellow pine posts in concrete. Plumb each post and let cure overnight.

Day 2

Rails & rot board

Install horizontal cedar rails (top, middle, bottom). Install cedar rot board at base. All connections with stainless or galvanized hardware.

Day 3

Picket install

Cut and install cedar pickets to HOA-spec height and style. Consistent spacing. Top trimmed level. Stainless fasteners throughout.

Day 4

Gates & cleanup

Build/install gates with proper hardware. Final adjustments. Haul away all debris. Walk-through with you. Photos for records.

Frequently asked

Common questions about cedar fences

Still unsure? Call 346 248 74 97.

Cost varies with linear footage, cedar grade, gate count, and scope (sectional repair vs full perimeter replacement). Key factors: board-on-board vs standard pickets, rot board at the base, cap and trim style, number of gates, and any add-ons. We provide a free written estimate within 48 hours once we see the site — it covers all material and labor so there are no surprises.
A properly built cedar fence with treated posts, rot board at the bottom, and hardware that doesn't bleed lasts 15-20+ years. Cheaper installations (untreated posts, no rot board, builder-grade pickets) often start failing in 7-10 years. The pickets typically outlast the posts; we often see fences where pickets are still solid but posts have rotted at ground level.
Yes — tear-out and haul-away of the old fence is included in the replacement quote. The cost is built into the per-project price. We also dig out old concrete post footings if you want fresh holes for new posts (recommended for full replacement).
For pickets we use Western Red Cedar (premium) or Eastern Red Cedar (more affordable). For posts we use pressure-treated yellow pine rated for ground contact. For rot boards we always use cedar. Stainless or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners throughout.
Yes — sectional repair is often more cost-effective. Common scenarios: storm damaged 2-3 sections, posts rotted on one side, gate failed. We replace just what's needed. Honest assessment: if more than 60% of the fence shows damage, full replacement usually makes more financial sense.
In The Woodlands, yes — most villages require HOA approval for fence replacement (style, height, materials must match deed restrictions). We can wait while you submit, or help you understand requirements. We've worked in most Woodlands villages and know typical specs.
